The Department commits itself to:

To be an academic unit devoted to the dissemination of knowledge, from aninterdisciplinaryperspective, to empower the students of Engineering and Management. Contribute to the all-round development of the students by providing them extensive counseling & guidance in terms of education and career oriented   problems.

Enhance the employability of the students by providing training in Communication Skills, Soft Skill and Personality Development. Provide opportunities to prepare for GRE, TOEFL and IELTS by encouraging them to utilize the state-of-the-art English Communication Skills Laboratory.

Globalization has brought in numerous opportunities for the teeming millions, with more focus on the students’ overall capability apart from the academic competence. Many students, particularly those from vernacular medium, find that they are not preferred for the jobs due to their inadequacy of communication skills and soft skills, despite possessing sound subject knowledge and technical expertise.Keeping in their pre-employment needs and career requirements, the department of Math’s & Humanities has recently established the state-of-the-art Digital Multimedia English Language Labs replacing the conventional labs.

The English Communication Skills Lab (ELCS) lab has the capacity of 32 workstations apart from one Instructor workstation. This software based language lab aims to familiarize the learners to the nuances of English speech like sounds, word accent, sentence accent, rhythm and intonation and to neutralize the influence of the regional accent and to bring about a consistent accent and intelligibility in  their English.

The Interactive Communication Skills (ICS) lab is located in a spacious room with good acoustics and well equipped with the latest technological aids viz., T.V. with large screen, VCD,LCD,OHP etc., that facilitates the students develop their soft skills and presentation skills, build up confidence and enhance their performance at Placement Interviews, Group Discussions and other recruitments.

Mathematics is a necessary avenue to scientific knowledge which opens new vistas of mental activity. A sound knowledge of Engineering Mathematics is a prerequisite for the modern Engineer to attain new heights in all aspects of engineering practice.

There is a symbiotic relation between Physics and Engineering. Broadly speaking, Engineering is mainly applied physics. A proper knowledge of physics is therefore indispensable for an engineer to excel in his or her chosen field.

Knowledge of English language has become an object of importance in today’s professional career. Communication skills along with a command over English language play a vital role to enable a student to succeed in his / her student as well as professional life.

In today’s globalized world the importance of leadership qualities is increasing by the day. The study of Management Science caters to this specific need grooming competent managers.

The department has proved its role as a supportive co voyager to all the departments by fulfilling the above said needs.
